Is your spiritual life feeling cluttered? Are you experiencing powerful moments with God in worship or prayer, only to find those experiences fading quickly when you return to daily life? The answer may lie not in what you're receiving, but in where you're storing it.

The Problem of the Full Room

Picture your spiritual life as a room. Like any room in your house, it can become overcrowded with things that don't belong - worry, fear, worldly desires, and misplaced priorities. When your spiritual room is packed full of these things, there's no space left for what God wants to give you.

"But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away with" (1 Corinthians 13:10). This scripture isn't just about the future - it speaks to our present reality. Christ, who is perfect, has already come. Yet many believers continue living with partial understanding and experience because their spiritual rooms are too cluttered to receive the fullness He offers.

Moving from Childhood to Maturity

Paul provides a powerful metaphor in 1 Corinthians 13:11: "When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."

Spiritual maturity requires intentionally putting away childish approaches to faith: - Surface-level understanding - Emotional-only experiences - Inconsistent commitment - Self-centered spirituality

God is calling His church to mature because there's a spiritual battle ahead that requires mature warriors. We cannot fight effectively if we're still operating at a spiritual kindergarten level.

The Army of Heaven

Revelation 19:14 presents a powerful picture: "And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean." This army isn't just angels - it's the mature church, seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6), clothed in His righteousness, ready for spiritual warfare.

But here's the sobering truth: You cannot be part of this army while your spiritual room is cluttered with worldly attachments and immature faith practices.

Practical Steps to Clear Your Room

  1. Take a hard look at what's filling your spiritual space. What worries, fears, or worldly priorities are taking up room that should belong to God?

  2. Begin removing things that don't belong. This might mean:

  3. Letting go of chronic worry

  4. Releasing control over situations

  5. Surrendering worldly ambitions

  6. Removing distractions from your spiritual life

  7. Just as you wouldn't keep kindergarten furniture in a college classroom, don't hold onto spiritual practices that you've outgrown. Make room for:

  8. Deeper Bible study

  9. More focused prayer

  10. Meaningful worship

  11. Active service in God's kingdom

The Urgency of Now

The spiritual battle intensifies daily. False teachers arise, deception spreads, and the enemy works tirelessly to weaken the church. There's no time for spiritual immaturity or cluttered faith.

Remember: Everything God does for you in moments of worship or revelation needs somewhere to land in your life. If your spiritual room is full of other things, these precious gifts will melt away like ice cream on a hot day - good in the moment but leaving no lasting impact.

A Call to Action

Are you making room for God? Today, right now, make the decision to clear your spiritual room. Don't let another powerful encounter with God evaporate because you had nowhere to store it. The choice is yours: Will you continue living with a cluttered faith, or will you make room for the fullness God wants to give you?

"And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity" (1 Corinthians 13:13). As you clear your spiritual room, let love be the organizing principle - love for God that compels you to make space for His presence, and love for others that motivates you to mature so you can serve effectively in His army.

The battle is coming. The time for spiritual spring cleaning is now. What will you remove from your room today?
